Case Study: Award-Winning Support for the TSA
Client: Department of Homeland Security - Transportation Security Administration (TSA) - Office of Security Technology (OST)
Project: TSA is investing in Microsoft SharePoint to foster and increase collaboration among its employees and departments. TTC is the only contractor supporting all OST branches and their Microsoft SharePoint sites/sub-sites (a total of 123) by providing development, administration, help desk, training and guidance on information technology activities.
Our onsite staff supports over 600 users. We began by assessing how users were engaging with the system and determined that SharePoint was not being used at its full potential. TTC conducted training on how IShare could accelerate performance. We communicated with OST employees and contractors to understand their requirements and needs. Based on this feedback, we built customized SharePoint tools to support daily operations. We ensured all tools were easy to use, intuitive and productive.
Client Results: TTC has been able to increase SharePoint adoption from 20% to over 95% of OST users in less than two years. We built intuitive, easy-to-use tools and enforce our own 3-click rule: Users must be able to find information within three clicks of the mouse. We have streamlined processes and saved hundreds of man hours using SharePoint as a collaboration and information sharing tool. TTC won the 2010 OST Team Innovation Award for our performance on this project. Our efforts have helped OST maximize capabilities by adopting SharePoint as the main tool for information storage and collection.
